John oversees all aspects of the construction process at The LaSalle Group including estimating, bidding, subcontracts, scheduling, consultant coordination, and project management. He is responsible for maintaining the financial position of each project, completing on time and on budget, and ensuring that each facility is built to LaSalle’s high level of quality and attention to detail. Responsibilities also include the evaluation and selection construction-related technology and software systems, safety policy development, and field personnel supervision. In addition, John directs the professional contracting and construction services provided to other companies by Lake Superior Contacting.
With a broad range of experience in the construction industry that spans 23 years, John began his career as a construction manager and job foreman with a company that focused on commercial projects. From 1986 until joining The LaSalle Group, John was a business owner and general contractor, specializing in both commercial and high-end residential projects. Commercial projects included over 30 renovations, additions and new-builds at mid-tier and upscale hotels, retail strip malls, and office buildings. Since 1999 and prior coming on board at LaSalle, John was president of Barbee Enterprises, providing commercial general contracting and custom home building services. The company’s commercial projects included medical/office plazas and professional buildings, and its customers included the City of Terrell, Texas and Trinity Valley Community College.
John attended Taft Community College in California, and Steven F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
